Goodbye My Dear Friend...
Today we drove up to the path around the summit of Pantokrator… We walked along the rocky path, for three miles and back again… Running still feeling too challenging an activity to contemplate; green fat lizards scuttled and rustled across our path as we approached, disturbing their sun basking...Away they raced, up the rocks, into the undergrowth… We rounded the corner and a little animal looking a bit like a cat was standing on the path. He gazed at us for while before streaking off, revealing his bushy tail and a pointy nose…
Anadi and I had been talking about all that he has been working on, in the time we have known one another. The huge amount of time and energy he has put in to create an incredible platform; like no other…
We talked of the past, of his genius, of how that has been exploited on occasions... Of how he has cleared this pattern from his energy field, so that now he fully enjoys and expresses his creativity, and sees how it is celebrated by others..
And then, there on the path, the little animal, which we have discovered is a Marten appeared right in front of us...
We looked up the totem when we got home... 'Marten gives you the ability to be resourceful and of great lateral thinking when necessary. It gives you a great sense of where your boundaries are, swiftness of action and movement and keeping your body in good condition. Be careful not to fuss over things and not to be exploited for what you have and what you do, Marten invokes a sense of balance and blessings within your life. It also gives you forest and tree wisdom and helps you use trees and forests as healing places...'
This resonated with our conversation, with the beautiful place we were walking in, with the whole journey we are on...
We met a group of men and women on the path as we returned, they had clambered up the side from the village Strinilas below... We guessed them all to be around seventy years old... They asked us questions about the paths, and the possible routes...
They looked happy, fit, relaxed... Sitting on the rocks; free on the side of a mountain...
'I am joyous to see happy people', I said to Anadi, 'loving climbing up the rocky path, active, having fun, together on the mountainside, their age not limiting them'.
We returned to Stefanos Place to very sad news...
My friend Kader passed away last night.
Such a beautiful soul Kader, such a wonderful man... Always living, always giving, always fighting for others... An inspiration, a true friend...
My heart goes out to his wife Karima and all of his friends and family.
He is so loved. He will be remembered by so many for so many incredible gestures and wonderful inspiring words, and for his open and generous heart, for his amazing spirit...
And for being so uniquely Kader, a very special person.
I met Kader on Brighton seafront, over 20 years ago.. We raced down the finish of the 10k together and struck up a conversation afterwards... This was the beginning of an enduring friendship that I will treasure and value forever.
I will miss you so much Kader ....
I like this poem, I do not know who wrote it, but I am posting it in memory of my dear true friend...
I run
Power surges through my lungs
I run
Freedom, as the cool air brushes my cheeks
I run
Desire to run forever with the abstinence of breathlessness
I run
Adrenaline is giving me a rush
I run
Unpredictability in the darkness
I run
Humanity brings me home
I stop.
