My Body Got Me Up To Dance...
It’s Saturday evening in Dorset…
Anadi and I are in a local pub, a band is setting up in the corner... We have entered a new world….
We rose early for a last few laps of Groveland Park, and - after leaving our home in London for the past ten days - stopped off at the ‘Runners World’ shop in Southgate to spend the voucher I received for winning the ‘super vets‘ category in the Triffic Trail race around Trent Park last weekend...
Then we headed off for the West Country…
On the way down I was checking Facebook and I noticed an article stating that Gin is good for you… !
I am a marketing man’s dream… I have been known to buy all sorts of face creams, vitamin pills and potions that I have read are good for me…!
As I wrote yesterday, this is the case even if they taste horrible…
So reading the wonderful positive properties of Gin, spoke to that part of my being that responds to such things, and gin does taste good…
I can’t exactly remember the positive properties now; I remember ‘antioxidant’ was mentioned, and ‘good for the kidneys’ and that there were about seven listed in all...!
We stopped on our journey to call in to see my beautiful cousin Carol who lives in Bournemouth… She and her husband Ian welcomed us with such warmth and love, and a very delicious lunch!
There was the added bonus of her sister Jen, and Nick her husband being there too.... Jen had brought photo albums showing photos of us all in our late teens and early twenties...
We were looking at one picture of us all draped about chairs, looking like we were singing and having a very fun evening indeed!
'You drank grapefruit juice all night Julia and you had driven us all to that wine bar in Petersfield to celebrate Rosy's 18th... On the way back you had the car window down and you were singing loudly and waving your arm out of the window.. On grape fruit juice, I remember it was grapefruit juice...'
'I probably thought it was good for me...' I said... 'Its going to be Gin from now on...'
Back in the pub....
The band are playing now... Draytona is their name...
They have just played 'A town called malice...' And my body got me up to dance... The ingredient that meant I could be 'rowdy' on grapefruit juice lives on, as I was the only person in the pub whose body did get them up to dance... People looked on smiling but no one joined me...!
When we arrived in Eype earlier, we had an hour or so before it was time to come out for dinner, so we took the opportunity to try out the new 'health food'...
Anadi has not had the luxury of a bath since early April, it has been all showers... (I have bathed in Provence and Buxted!) so he went on a 'G and T mission' and brought them back to drink in the Bath...
The verdict for its positive properties is so far so good...!
